FIRE FIGHTING PANEL

A fire fighting panel, also known as a fire alarm control panel (FACP) or fire pump control panel, is the central control hub of a building’s fire protection system. It monitors inputs from detection devices, processes the information, and automatically initiates appropriate responses, such as sounding alarms and activating fire suppression equipment.

KEY FUNCTIONS

• Centralized monitoring of all connected devices like smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual pull stations, and water flow switches.

• Alarm notification by activating audible and visual alarms (horns, strobes, speakers) to alert occupants to evacuate.

• Automatic control of associated equipment, which can include:
• Starting and stopping fire pumps (jockey, main electric, diesel) to ensure correct water pressure for sprinkler or hydrant systems.
• Releasing fire suppression agents like gas or water.
• Shutting down ventilation (HVAC) systems to prevent smoke spread.
• Recalling elevators to a safe floor and unlocking emergency exits.

• Communication capabilities to send signals to a permanently manned supervising station or the fire department.

• System integrity monitoring with backup power sources (batteries or generators) to ensure continuous operation during power outages.

• Data logging of all events, faults, and maintenance activities for later review and compliance audits.
